A completely new automated handling and storage system – supplied by the SACMI Group together with the NUOVA SIMA brand – was recently started up at the SAVOIA ceramic plant in FIORANO MODENESE.

“This automated line, which features AUTOMATIC LASER-GUIDED VEHICLES”, explains Sacmi’s plant engineer, Mr. Miselli, “has been designed to make SAVOIA’s ceramic manufacturing operations as flexible as possible”. Vehicles, in fact, are monitored constantly by an on-car rotating laser scanner which works by way of a reflected beam.

“This system”, points out the plant owner, “ has, via an investment worth several million euros, made us even more competitive when it comes to meeting our customers’ demands. The utilisation of no less than 100 roller racks allows optimal manufacturing of our broad product range”.

The partnership between SACMI and SAVOIA thus goes from strength to strength, with FIORANO continuing to make major investments; moreover, NUOVA SIMA and SAVOIA offer two examples of excellence, based in the same province, working together for a better future.
