Brazil’s largest tile manufacturer is producing successfully using 15 Durst Gamma ceramic printing systems.
Durst, manufacturer of advanced digital printing and production technologies, installed the 14th and 15th Gamma ceramic printing system at the largest Brazilian tile manufacturer, Grupo Portobello S/A, in October 2017. The company has counted on the reliability and performance of the Gamma series since 2011 and is continually investing in the latest technology. Using the new Durst Gamma 108 XD 4.0, equipped with the Durst DM print head technology, Portobello will now be able to produce special floor tiles with high ink coverage and use the equally new Gamma 148 XD for large rectangular tiles at 90×90, 100×100 and 120×120 cm. The close partnership between Portobello and Durst is the result of both companies striving for absolute quality. Portobello’s tiles are characterized by the highest printing quality, fine details in the print image and brilliant colors. Durst Gamma printing systems are not only used for the premium lines, but also for mass producing the sub-brand “Pointer”. After all, banding-free results and color stability are also some of the competitive advantages of this brand. In 2015, Portobello achieved a production volume of over 30 million square meters and could rely on the high uptime and 24/7 availability of the Gamma XD printing systems. Service and maintenance play an important role with these production figures. Here, too, Portobello is able to benefit from the low cost and reduced effort. In the meantime, Portobello achieves total sales of over BRL 1 billion (approximately USD 320 million) per year and employs 2,600 people.
