A new plant, equipped with SACMI technology for the manufacture of large floor and wall tiles, was recently started up in the Kutahya district. It will produce over 6 million m2/year of high quality glazed and monoporosa tiles
Gural Seramik’s new line, recently installed at their Kutahya site in the heart of the same-named region of Turkey, is now up and running. Bristling with SACMI technology, this latest project highlights the Tile market ambitions of this leading Turkish and international ceramic player, which has been a key sanitaryware and tableware manufacturer for decades.
The project features state-of-the-art technology that has led to the creation of an ultra-modern, fully automated line for the manufacture of glazed and monoporosa porcelain stoneware.
More specifically, SACMI has provided this Turkish customer with systems for all its departments, from body formulation to sorting. On the body preparation front, for example, the company has taken delivery of MMC138 modular mills and two ATM 90 spray dryers. The floor tiles are formed by two PH8200 presses, ideal for the market’s most popular sizes (such as 60×60 and 60×120 and 120×120 cm); two PH 5000XXL presses are used to make the wall tiles. Downstream, the plant features two new 150-meter SACMI FMA295 kilns, the global standard-setters for quality, efficiency and low consumption. Completing the project are the high-capacity Ekosort-Ekowrap sorters and the BMR-supplied finishing line.
Providing a varied product mix, this latest plant will have an overall output of some 6 million square meters of tiles per year. Featuring full automation and outstanding flexibility, the new line underscores the bold business ambitions behind the investment.
