The Terratinta Group brand pays homage to this ancient tradition with a fresh, contemporary new collection that goes perfectly with Biancone, the other new addition to Ceramica Magica’s summer 2021 collection.
Sartoria, a Terratinta Group brand, is launching Mar, the new collection of ceramic wall tiles for the summer of 2021, that holds in its name the origin of this evocative decorative project. Mar, or Maioliche Antiche di Recupero (Ancient Recovered Majolica), is a tribute to the majolica floor tiles of the Mediterranean tradition, a sort of “memory of the past” to be integrated into contemporary space.
The past is a treasure case of knowledge and with Mar, tradition evolves, is reinterpreted starting from its most famous form, majolica, becoming a furnishing element in its own right. The graphic line painted on the 20×20 tiles evokes places linked to the territory of southern Italy, creating an engaging virtual tour.
From Molo Sant’Antonio, one of Bari’s symbolic places, to Villa Dragonetti, a 16th-century hunting lodge whose coffered ceiling decorations inspired the motif. From the famous Apulian “masserie”, once simple rural buildings, now restored, safeguarded and preserved as historical monuments, to the watercolour blue that characterises Casino Tarricone. Eight versions, eight locations with a single objective: to recreate a real experience rooted in the territory where this type of decoration originates, reproducing the aristocratic charm of a kaleidoscope of colours that are the reflection of an overwhelming, blooming, sun-kissed nature under a cloudless blue sky.
Mar’s colour palette consists of warm tones, delicate decorations, simple geometries and elaborate embroidery.

The Mar+Biancone match
Contamination of styles creates an environment in constant movement with Puglia as the centrepiece through its symbolic stone: Biancone. Sculptural and classic, this collection becomes complementary to Mar, creating a fascinating aesthetic combination.
